This Kansas Trail Is One Of The Best Places To View Summer Wildflowers

When thinking of the best times to view flowers, spring often comes to mind – after all, it’s the season of renewal, when greenery and new life return to the world after the snowy days of winter. Plenty of flowers bloom in the springtime in Kansas, but we also have some pretty amazing flowers that bloom in the summer: we are the Sunflower State, after all! If you’re looking for a great summer trail with wildflowers in Olathe, Kansas, you’ll definitely want to check out the Bittersweet and South Trail at Ernie Miller Park. This is a fantastic little nature center and trail system where you can escape into nature for a while at any time of year, but it’s especially beautiful in the summer when the park becomes filled with vibrant wildflowers, offering a wonderful explosion of color.

One of our favorite things about this trail is that it's a nice easy hike that just about anyone can enjoy. It's a 1.6-mile loop with minimal elevation gain. You don't need to be in great shape or an experienced explorer to attempt this trail - it's well-marked and kid-friendly. Note that dogs are not allowed on this trail, so Fido will have to stay home.
