It’s the Holiday Season! My PCT Gear List
Laying out all the goodies you’ve accumulated for a big hiking trip always feels a little bit like Christmas Eve. All the presents bought for you as parting gifts from loved ones – their way of maintaining connection with you and saying good luck while you’re away – and the ones you bought yourself snuggly placed underneath the tree, or in this case a backpack. It’s turned into a ritual for me: lay it all out the day before departure. Pack it all up in the backpack. See how it feels on your shoulders. Weigh it. Set it next to the front door lest you forget it on your way out (can you imagine?).
For better or for worse, here is my PCT gear list. My hope is that it doesn’t prove inadequate in a little over 48 hours when I finally set foot on trail in Southern California.
