Tony (he/him), trail name Rescue, is a retired USAF veteran who is hanging up his wings to join the Appalachian Trail thru-hiking class of 2026. As a youth, he got his start backpacking in Hoosier National Forest, and since then he has hiked in the various parts of the USA and East Asia, climbing several of Japan's well-known peaks. He leverages AI resources like Large Language Models (LLMs) to break new ground in optimizing gear, logistics, and information for his journey. After several years of living abroad in Okinawa, Japan with his wife and their dog, he recently returned home to the USA to start his thru-hike.
